Advanced Practitioner - Neurosurgery - SSM Health Outpatient Center, Madison, WI
SSM Health Dean Medical Group, a 450+ physician multi-specialty group, is actively recruiting for two full-time (1.0FTE) Neurosurgery Advanced Practitioners (PA/NP). The new APs will be joining a team of 5 surgeons and 4 APs. The Neurosurgery team is a highly functional and collegial group of providers with an established practice that continues to expand.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Inpatient rounding daily
- Take complete history and perform physical exams
- Preoperative patient care: OR first assist, patient positioning, making sure correct imaging studies, instruments, and implants are available
- Ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests
- Suturing and wound care
- Partner with physician to manage the outpatient clinic
- Handle new patient consultations and admissions
- Call responsibilities include inpatient hospital rounds, phone calls from the surgical floor, and operating room coverage
- Time is split between the OR, inpatient, and outpatient settings
- Strong support staff that help room and coordinate patient care in the clinic
- Very collegial and close knit team environment
- Strong physician and AP 1:1 partnerships
- Opportunity to work on new trauma cases
- Work schedule consists of a 4 day work week plus call rotation
- Call schedule rotation is 1:6
- Hospital privileges with SSM Health hospitals in the region
