Utilizes metrics and organization vision to lead and direct strategic service line practice and standards. Develops and implements service line practice standards and guidelines across organization. Oversees diagnostic, oncology, neuroscience, cardiology and provider based service lines, as well as physician recruitment.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Serves as a member of the leadership team providing strategic direction on service line related issues. Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment in a matrix organization, and promotes teamwork within and across the organization by maintaining positive relationships and utilizing effective problem solving skills.
    • Ensures service lines operate efficiently and effectively, while maximizing profitability and growth. Ensures improved operational integration of provider based clinics.
    • Consults and advises leadership on identified challenges that relate to the operation of the hospital and recommends appropriate action. Recommends changes to administrative policies to achieve strategic objectives. Assists leadership in administering, directing and coordinating the activities of the hospital staff to achieve strategic objectives.
    • Oversees service line operations to ensure compliance with established corporate objectives and the delivery of optimal health care services. Takes administrative calls as assigned, solving problems and making appropriate policy interpretations to ensure quality care to patients.
    • Monitors progress toward hospital-wide patient satisfaction goals and recommends and implements corrective actions as necessary.
    • Oversees human resource management for the assigned area creating a culture of employee engagement. Ensures HR policies are administered consistently across function. Organizes service line areas through appropriate structure and delegation of functions. Identifies succession planning needs.
    • Promotes team building and collaboration. Motivates, encourages and empowers staff to achieve personal, organizational and team goals. Recognizes accomplishment. Encourages and provides opportunity for staff input and feedback regarding improvement opportunities. Recommends and implements changes as needed to comply with accrediting or performance standards.
    • Reviews financial indicators and implements action and modifications when warranted. Maintains clear expectations of accountability with direct reports.
    • Coordinates the provision of health care activities to ensure patient care is provided in accordance with regulatory, statutory and legal standards. Communicates with department managers to resolve various issues related to staffing, utilization of hospital facilities, equipment and supplies, and interdepartmental processes and hand-offs.
    • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

    • Master's degree

    EXPERIENCE

    • Fifteen years' experience, with seven years' in leadership

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
    • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Rare climbing.

Four focus areas

Act for COVID-19 equity: Members commit to ensuring that testing for COVID-19 is available and accessible in minority communities and that new treatments are distributed and used equitably as they become available. Members will also work for prioritization of vaccinations for those individuals and families at higher risk — elder populations and communities of color, including Native American communities.

Enact change across our own health systems: Members are examining how their organizations recruit, hire, promote and retain employees; how they conduct business operations, including visible diversity and inclusivity at the decision, leadership and governance levels; and how they incentivize and hold our leaders accountable.

Advocate for improved health outcomes for minority communities and populations: Members agree to promote and improve the delivery of culturally competent care and oppose policies that exacerbate or perpetuate economic and social inequities, including such issues as education, housing and criminal justice reform.

Strengthen trust with minority communities: Members will continue to foster, strengthen and sustain authentic relationships based on mutually agreed goals to better understand the unique needs of their communities.
